Icewind Dale Ii Mods

Ncarty97: NPC Project (/) This one allows you to add joinable NPC's that have dialogue and voice acting (and both are very, very well done). I don't agree. I found the writing too juvenile for my taste, and too modern sounding. I quit it when one of the characters used the expression 'word'. I found the voice acting to be rather bland, but to be fair it is made by amateurs, and voice acting is in my experience harder for an amateur to do than writing.EDIT: Disregard the above.

I was referring to the wrong mod. PetrusOctavianus: I don't agree. I found the writing too juvenile for my taste, and too modern sounding. Hmm, I don't remember any of the characters using anything modern, they all seemed very in character. I do remember a few things sounding a bit cheesy, but not enough to bother me, and the voice acting seemed as good as any in the regular games IMO. Maybe it was the characters I choose.

I believe I used:HilduryJaemalNikosh BracegirdleValeeroPrachiI thought the voice acting on Nikosh was perfect. It was annoying, but then he's a halfing thief so I would expect him to be annoying.

Hildury seemed a bit over board on the dumbing of the voice, but then she's a half-orc.I really liked Valeero and was disappointed I didn't have the option to romance her. Jaemal was probably my least favorite. Got tired of hearing about how he was a eunuch, but them it seemed like he was hitting on me!I think what I liked mainly about the NPC project was that the given how unengaged the main story was to me, it gave me something to get a bit emotionally invested in. Vejita00: I did some searching around on this forum and on the net and didn't find anything leaping out at me. Are there any fan patches or recommended mods for Icewind Dale II or is it ok to go vanilla? The first thing I do for all IE games is to install Ease of Use and enable: Unlimited Ammo Stacking, bottomless scroll, gem, and potion bags, and automatic spell learning.

Those little details make the game SO much more enjoyable without altering the game balance at all. I'm conservative in other changes, although I'll occasionally tweak a character if I've made a really annoying training mistake (but I'll do it fairly, i.e. If I give a point of Strength, I'll subtract a point from another stat). Basically, anything I feel a reasonable DM might allow in a sit down PnP game that enhances my enjoyment without lessening the challenge or spoiling the adventure. I agree with HeatherHaze, installing the mods to reduce inventory management removes the worst aspect of the game totally with no real balance issues inherent to it. Getting to the third level of a five level dungeon only to run out of arrows, bolts, and sling bullets and have to slog alllllllll the way back to town to spend 100 gp on more ammo, constantly switching it between characters to take advantage of the available ammo slots, running out of room for important items because you have 500 gp worth of tiny gems somehow filling a massive backpack. Do yourself a favor and pick that one up.

I spent far too much time in original ID having to go back to town to by bullets. Imagine Diablo or Torchlight without the Teleport to Town scroll. You played original IWD1, it's a different game but still playable well without mods. The GoG version of IWD includes the expansions which add early available containers to the game. But this thread is about IWD2.Unmodded IWD2 already has gem bags, potion bags, scroll cases and a bag of holding you can find early in the first chapter so there's no need to mod anything.
